All in all these take much of the dread out of plaiting and save me a hell of a lot of time. Using Quick Knot I even managed to make my geldings unruly golf ball plaits look neat!
I have always been a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to how I like my horses turned out for competitions. I like my plaits to be just so, however I also have Dyspraxia (a muscle coordination disorder). This means that although I know exactly how I want the plaits to look, I can’t always manage to get them to turn out just so and I am much slower than most which is very frustrating! I have never ever managed to band successfully, so always sewn to achieve neat and intact plaits for a full day’s eventing. This was always a little disheartening when doing show prep with friends as they would have finished banding the whole mane while I was still sewing the second one in!
“Quick Knot saves me a hell of a lot of time.“
However I had seen the internet hype about Quick Knot and after seeing them in person at a stall at Chatsworth horse trials, I purchased some for my two horses. I was a little sceptical that they would be as easy to use as the videos had shown but sure enough it took me half the time to plait up and they looked just as good as if I had sewn. I was a little concerned how they would travel as my mare shakes her head quite a lot in the lorry, a couple had come loose but it only took me a few seconds to fix it back in place unlike when the sewn ones come loose. The plaits look neat and Quick Knot saves me a lot of time. I love them!
